JESSICA TROSMAN
(Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1967) Jessica Trosman is, without a doubt, one of the most recognized Latin American designer in the world. She was born in Buenos Aires and at the age of twelve she moved to Miami. After studying fashion design, Jessica returns to Argentina, where she launches Trosmanchurba with the creator Martín Churba. Quickly, the brand becomes a worldwide phenomenon. From Barneys in New York to L’Éclaireur in Paris, they acquire Latin American design for the first time in decades and Trosmanchurba’s collections are sold in 40 luxury multi-brand points all over the planet.
In 2002, Jessica Trosman launches her eponymous brand, Trosman. The foundation of his new project – researched design, textile complexity and a deep interest in the needs of women – make this label an authentic national and international sensation. The innovations driven by the designer lead her to present her collection biannually in Paris and, in a short time, to a historic production and distribution agreement in Japan with the leading group Onward Kashiyama.
Jessica Trosman is repeatedly chosen among the hundred best designers in the world by the influential fashion books SAMPLE (Phaidon Press, ed.) and FASHION NOW (Taschen, ed.). His designs are also celebrated in the best fashion magazines in the world – Vogue Paris, SelfService, Purple and AnOther Magazine, among others.
The Government of the Argentine Republic grants Jessica Trosman a special distinction in 2011 for her innovative export model. That year she also wins the Golden Scissors – twice, both the best ready-to-wear collection and the best designer in the country.
In 2011, the creator sells the Trosman brand to an Argentine group, to concentrate on her own textile research and development laboratory. This venture generates prestigious collaborations with haute couture houses such as Chanel, avant-garde labels such as Rick Owens and even with a series of Latin American mass consumption brands – thus demonstrating the infinite versatility of the designer. In August 2013, Jessica Trosman launches JT. Its most democratic and universalist project, JT is a ready-to-wear and accessories brand that speaks to women of all ages.
Jessica sells JT to her partners in April 2019 and begins her career as an artist, making sculptures with fabrics, subjecting them to a process with which she works the volume, inflating them until they are rigid, frozen, generating abstract shapes, making them static, stopping them in time. Jessica Trosman lives in Buenos Aires, is 56 years old and is the mother of two children, Momo Turek Trosman, 30, and Rosa Sandrigo Trosman, 15.
